What MEXC is
MEXC is a global cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2018, and its whole identity is breadth. Where a conservative platform such as Coinbase lists a few hundred assets after long review, MEXC carries more than 3,000, often within days of a token appearing, across more than a hundred withdrawal networks. For anyone who follows smaller projects, that is the reason to have an account.
Around the spot exchange sit the usual products: futures, margin, copy trading, staking, a Launchpad for new tokens, and its own exchange token, MX, which feeds into Launchpad access and earn products. The trading pairs are quoted almost entirely in USDT and USDC, so buying on MEXC usually means getting stablecoins in first.

MEXC, the EU and restricted countries
Read this before you sign up. MEXC holds no MiCA licence and has not applied for one in any EU country. MiCA’s transition window closed across the European Economic Area on 1 July 2026, and in June MEXC told EEA users to withdraw their funds before that date. Compliance monitors have since reported that the platform kept accepting European registrations anyway. Either way, an EU resident using MEXC does so without the protection of any EU regulator: if an account is frozen or a withdrawal stalls, there is nobody in Europe to complain to.
Switzerland is outside the EEA and does not appear on MEXC’s restricted list. The United Kingdom does.
MEXC does not serve the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, the Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine, or countries on the FATF blacklist. The list changes; check MEXC’s own terms before you verify.
Fees: zero, if you place limit orders
MEXC’s headline number is real: 0% maker on spot, 0.05% taker. A limit order that rests on the book before it fills is a maker order and costs nothing; a market order that fills immediately is a taker order. Futures are 0% maker and 0.02% taker at the standard rate.
The trap, same as everywhere
The fee schedule only covers the order book. Buying USDT by card goes through a payment partner with its own, much higher cost, and the one-click Buy screen hides a spread in the price. As on Binance or Coinbase, the cheap route is two clicks further: get stablecoins in once, then use the spot market.
Deposits and withdrawals
Crypto deposits are free. Withdrawals cost a flat network fee that depends on the asset and the chain. MEXC supports many networks for the same token, so check that the network you pick on MEXC is the one your wallet expects — then send a test amount.
KYC and safety, honestly
Verify your identity before you deposit. MEXC has a reputation for letting people trade with little verification, but that is the wrong way to use it: primary KYC (ID document) raises crypto withdrawals to 80 BTC a day, advanced KYC to 200 BTC, and verification is required for fiat and card purchases. More importantly, a verified account is much easier to unlock if it is ever flagged.
Because it does get flagged. In July 2025 MEXC froze around $3 million belonging to a pseudonymous trader over suspected automated trading, and only released it on 31 October 2025 after a public campaign and an apology from its chief strategy officer. MEXC says wrongful freezes affect fewer than 0.1% of accounts; that figure is not independently verified.
On the other side of the ledger: MEXC has run since 2018 without a major reported hack, publishes proof-of-reserves wallet data, and keeps a $100 million Guardian Fund. Proof of reserves shows assets, not liabilities, so it is not the same thing as an audit. The conclusion is the one we give for every exchange, with extra weight here: keep on MEXC only what you are about to trade.
Buying Kaspa on MEXC, step by step
The reason many of our readers open a MEXC account: Kaspa (KAS) is liquid there, and it is not on the spot markets of Binance or Coinbase. The same steps work for any other asset.
- Check your country against the restricted list above, and read the EU section if you live in the European Union.
- Create the account through the button on this page, with a dedicated email and a password from your password manager.
- Enable two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, never SMS, and set an anti-phishing code.
- Complete identity verification. ID document and a face check; it takes a few minutes.
- Fund the account with USDT — by card through MEXC, or cheaper, by sending USDT from an exchange you already use. Match the network on both sides.
- Buy KAS on the spot market: open the KAS/USDT pair and place a limit order to pay the 0% maker fee.
- Withdraw to your own Kaspa wallet: add the address to your withdrawal allowlist, send a small test amount, then the rest.
Where MEXC wins, and where it does not
The honest ledger, as of September 2026.
What works
- The widest asset list we know of: 3,000+ tokens, often listed within days
- 0% maker fee on spot, 0.05% taker — among the cheapest anywhere
- Spot KAS/USDT, which Binance and Coinbase still do not offer
- No major reported hack since 2018, plus a $100M Guardian Fund
- Proof-of-reserves wallet data published
What does not
- No MiCA licence, and no top-tier licence in the US, UK or EU
- Closed to the US, Canada, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and more
- A record of freezing accounts, sometimes for months
- Almost everything is quoted in USDT, so fiat on-ramps cost extra
- An early listing is not a recommendation: small caps carry real risk

MEXC FAQ
Is MEXC available in Europe?
MEXC holds no MiCA licence and has not filed for one in any EU country. In June 2026 it told users in the European Economic Area to withdraw their funds before MiCA's transition period ended on 1 July 2026. Compliance monitors reported that it kept accepting European sign-ups after that date, but an unlicensed exchange serving you gives you no EU regulator to turn to. Switzerland is outside the EEA and not on MEXC's restricted list.
Which countries cannot use MEXC?
MEXC does not serve the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, the Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine, or countries on the FATF blacklist. The list changes, so check MEXC's terms before you verify.
What are MEXC's trading fees?
On spot, 0% for makers and 0.05% for takers. On futures, 0% for makers and 0.02% for takers at the standard rate. A limit order that rests on the book is a maker order and costs nothing; a market order is a taker order. Card purchases and the one-click Buy button carry their own, higher costs.
Do I need KYC on MEXC?
In practice, yes. Primary verification with an ID document raises crypto withdrawals to 80 BTC a day and advanced verification to 200 BTC, and verification is required for fiat and card purchases. MEXC has been known to freeze unverified or flagged accounts, so verify before you deposit anything significant.
Is MEXC safe?
It has run since 2018 without a major reported hack, publishes proof-of-reserves wallet data and keeps a $100 million Guardian Fund. It is also unlicensed in every major market and has frozen user accounts, including about $3 million belonging to one trader from July to October 2025. Use it to buy, then withdraw to your own wallet.
How do I buy Kaspa on MEXC?
Open and verify a MEXC account, enable two-factor authentication, fund it with USDT (by card, or by sending crypto from another exchange), then buy KAS on the KAS/USDT spot market with a limit order. Finish by withdrawing your KAS to a Kaspa wallet you control, with a small test transaction first.
